Course Description: Students will learn how to use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel. We will be focusing on Excel and Access. If time allows we may also work with Google docs to compare how they are similar to and different from the Microsoft products.
Course Goals and Instructional Objectives:
- Students will understand what each program in the Microsoft Office Suite does and what types of applications it is best used for.
- Students will be able to implement the appropriate program to complete a task given.
Course Requirements:
Class Materials: Students are expected to bring a pencil, paper, their student planner and a folder to keep class materials in with them to class everyday.
Class Assignments: Students are encouraged to use their student planner to keep track of when assignments are due.
Class Participation and Expectations: Students are expected to attend class everyday and participate in discussions and lectures. Passes to leave class will be given only in the case of an emergency and students must have their student planners in order to be given a pass. There are many times when students will be expected to work on their own, this is to be done with minimal talking. Food and drink are only allowed on the counter area of the lab. These items are not to be near a computer at any time. Students may get up during work times within reason. If it is found that students are abusing this privilege or are not picking up after themselves, this privilege will be taken away.
Evaluation Grading: All assignments will be weighted equally.
